Bernard Bijvoet

Bernard Bijvoet (1889–1979) was a Dutch architect who collaborated with Pierre Chareau on the Maison de Verre (1932) in Paris. The house's facade of glass blocks — translucent rather than transparent — was a landmark in Modernist material innovation. Bijvoet brought structural expertise to the partnership that made the ambitious glass-block construction feasible.
