André Bloc

André Bloc (1896–1966) was a French sculptor, publisher, and architect who founded the journal L'Architecture d'Aujourd'hui. The Sculpture-Habitacles in Meudon are inhabitable concrete sculptures — hybrid works that dissolve the boundary between art and architecture. These Expressionist-Brutalist forms, neither fully building nor fully sculpture, represent Bloc's belief that architecture should be experienced as a spatial art.
