Peter Behrens (1868–1940) was a German architect and industrial designer who is considered a founding figure of modern architecture. His Berlin studio was a training ground for three of the 20th century's most important architects: Walter Gropius, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier. The catalogue holds 2 of his works in Berlin.
The AEG Turbine Factory (1909) is a landmark of industrial architecture: a monumental steel-and-glass hall with a hexagonal concrete portal that gave factory production the dignity of a temple. It is widely regarded as the first modern industrial building. Haus Lewin is a residential work in the Neue Sachlichkeit style. Behrens's role as AEG's corporate designer — creating everything from factory buildings to logos to electric kettles — made him the first architect to define an entire corporate identity.
